With Deepest Sympathy

Good morning my friends...

Unfortunately, it was that time to make a sympathy card for my husband's friend who lost a family member unexpectedly.  He was very young; left a young bride and two small children - 4 and 1 years old.  It's times like these where I sit silently and wonder....why does this kind of stuff happen?

Sometimes there are no answers and sometimes, there just aren't any words.  And while I sat at my craft desk wondering what to do that would be appropriate, I just used a gorgeous image from A Day For Daisies that I recently won.  Usually, I just go with just a sentiment as a focal point, but I think this image is gorgeous all on it's own and conveys the sympathy we feel for my husband's friend without having to say anything all.

Normally, I would never think of using pink on a sympathy card, but I think its subtle enough here and I used some Colorbox Chalk Ink in black to try soften it up as well.  She is colored in Copics and the the papers are a mix of Pink Paislee's London Market and Prima's Almanac Collection.  The image and the papers are all distressed in that chalk ink.  I used a Fiskars punch for the border and a gorgeous black flower from Petaloo.

Remember to say I love you to those that you love today...and thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  3. That is so sad, Sara. My heart is breaking for those children who will never know their dad, and the wife who has to deal with widowhood and single motherhood. Your card is a beautiful expression of your sympathy. Great image choice and you did a wonderful job with the coloring and inking.

  4. This is a lovely card, Sara. While we all know that the wife would rather her husband than a card, I believe that this card will be cherished...

  7. The most difficult type of card to do in so many ways - this one is just right for such a terrible time and I'm sure will be appreciated for the thought gone into it.
