My friend had asked me if I could make a little baby advice book for her daughter's baby shower. She wanted something 1. cute 2. simple and not overly embellished 3. something with turtles *that was her theme*.
I was stoked because I had just gotten the new Bind-It-All for Christmas and haven't been able to use it yet. I was also thrilled because I knew that Meljen's Designs carries an adorable digi called Lovin' Turtle, which would be perfect for this book! Here is what I came up with:
I colored him in Copics to match this adorable paper by Paper Studio. His little hearts were then covered in two coats of Glossy Accents to really make them really pop! In addition to the Paper Studio dp, I used some Parakeet Bazzill cardstock. All papers were adhered to the chipboard that came with my Bind-It-All using some Terrifically Tacky Tape. I used up some old corner stickers from a baby sticker pad, a self-adhesive gem heart for above his head, added some Tim Holtz tickets and then created the scalloped rolled flowers with a die. I also punched the edging using a Fiskars punch and then added some ribbons from my stash to the binding.
Here is what the book looks like opened up:
I made an inside little pocket for the mommy-to-be to hold some tags, photos, mementos, whatever! The tag was made using Recollections kraft cardstock, some yellow craft seam binding from my stash, a Creative Memories lined bg stamp, and a baby stamp from an old set. The button was from a Recollections self-adhesive button embellie pack, and was oh so cute to finish it off!
Here's a better look at that flap - I put a sticker from the same pad as the corners used on the cover - the colors matched perfectly and of course, I'm a huge Paul Simon fan, so I had to use it! I also stuck a tiny pink heart above it to accent the sticker.
The rest of the book was made with the same digi - I resized it to very small and used a green
"ink" in Word to match my cardstock color, and printed it on Colorbok Marshmallow Cardstock. Every woman at the shower was free to write her words of advice and wisdom on each page! Here is a better look at that as well:
