TLC Design Team Blog Hop!

Hello all my crafty friends!!!   Happy Friday!  And what an awesome way to start our weekend!!!!  TLC is having a Design Team Blog Hop today to help welcome the new DT, which I am thrilled and honored to be a part of.  I am super excited to be your final destination for today's hop. :)

Hopefully you've come here from my fabulously talented teamie, Hetty.  If you haven't, you should go back to the beginning or starting point which is Karen, another uber talented teamie o'mine ;)   You definitely want to start at the beginning, because each DT member has a little surprise in store for you!  I've put the blog hop list here for your convenience just in case you get lost along the way!

For today, I created a sort of Clean and Simple masculine card using the very freebie that I will be giving you at the end of the post!  The name of the image is called Too Many Numbers, and once I saw him I fell in love with his cherubic face and angel eyes.  Thank God I'm not his mother, I'd never be able to tell that face no ;)

I just love that look, don't you?!?  And I love the vintage feel and the versatility of this image.  He could be used with so many of Paulette's word art sets and sentiments (trust me, it was hard choosing just one!). I decided for today's creation to use TLC's, Thinking of You, since he looked so lost in thought!

So for stopping by and joining us in all the blog hop fun, I've attached your little gift from Paulette - all you have to do is click on it and right click to save yours!

This concludes our hop today!!  Hopefully you've enjoyed all the mahoosive amounts of creativity from my fellow teamies and all those fabby freebies from Paulette! Isn't she the most generous?!  Don't forget to spread some TLC today :)

Peace, Love and Rock & Roll :)

Happy Hump Day!!  We're so close to the weekend I can taste it!!

Dottie happens to be one of my favorite characters from Bugaboo Stamps...I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Gus, Stella, Deacon, Ava, the brats...umm, ok, I admit it - I love em all!!!!  But this image is fierce!  I  had so much fun coloring it up to match the most adorable paper and sentiment by TLC that I've been dying to use for quite some time.  I cranked my 60's collection on my playlist and totally imagined Dottie having the time of her life at Woodstock.

That's right ladies! Get your hoppin' shoes on!  To welcome our new Design Team over at TLC, Paulette has put together a fabulous hop filled with loads of inspiration!  The hop will begin on this Friday, July 29th and will run through the weekend!

And!!!!  Not only will your creativity be sparked, each one of the DT members that you visit during the hop(including me!!!) will be giving away a freebie on their blog!!!

So don't forget - mark your calendar for July 29th!! You definitely do NOT wanna miss out on my fabulous teamie's creations and your chance to pick up some gorgeous images along the way!  See you all there :)

Kindness Inspires

Happy Monday friends!!  Hopefully you all had an awesome weekend and stayed cool in the process.  We've had over a 100 degree days here in Jersey - with the humidity so thick you could cut it with a knife!  Thankfully, it seems like today will only reach about 85 and you can actually walk outside without hitting a brick wall!

Anyway, on to my card for today!  I've been a Tiddly Inks virgin, but not anymore ;)   I can't tell you how much fun I had making this - I just love these colors together, and managed to find scraps of one of my favorite papers that I've had forever that I've been refusing to part with ;)

So here is Poppy - isn't she precious?!  She's part of the Goth line over at Tiddly Inks and the sentiment is from TLC.  I went a touch distress-happy with my Cranberry Colorbox Pigment Ink, and as you can see - I made a mess.  Remind me never to do THAT again!  I think it kinda adds a little sumthin', sumthin' to the card ;)

Hope you all have a fabulous start to your week and, as always, thanks for leaving me some love - it always brightens my day!

Happy Birthday CDAC Group Contest!

Celebrate good times, come on! (Let's celebrate)
Celebrate good times, come on! (Let's celebrate)

There's a party goin' on right here
A celebration to last throughout the years
So bring your good times, and your laughter too
We gonna celebrate your party with you

Did I hear someone say it's time to celebrate?!  Yup, you heard right!  A year ago this Sunday, Candy formed the TLC group on the CDAC for Paulette - I still can't believe a year has flown by?!  Where did the time go?!

Every birthday requires a little par-tay and what better way to celebrate the momentus occasion then with a little contest?!  You game?  Well here's the scoop:  Paulette has graciously offered up two, very different images for you to choose from to use on your creation.  Here's the twist, YOU have to come up with the sentiment for whichever image you choose, and stick it on your creation.

For my card today, I chose to use the vintage Learn to Walk image offered for the blog contest; and my sentiment reads, "Taking the first step is half the battle".

I just adore this image!  Oddly enough, after I made the decision to do pastels, I realized that I really didn't have a lot of embellies in those colors, so I decided to try making my own "faux primas".  If you'd like to give it a go yourself, check out this vid on youtube by clicking here - I found it super simple follow!   A little tricky at first, but not hard at all and the results are unbelievable!

To check out all the contest deets and grab one of the freebies for the contest, click here.  You have until Sunday to play along and there are some pretty fabulous prize packages for the winners (yup, there will be more than one winner!), which you definately do not want to miss out on!

Happy Birthday TLC!!!!

Christmas in July

Bugaboo Stamps is hosting the Sketch Challenge over at the CDAC and they are also having a huge Christmas in July Blog Hop & Weekly Mini Challenge going on their blog.  For all the details on the fabulous blog hop loaded with mahoosive inspiration and fun challenges for your chance to win Jodie's amazing images, click on the Bugaboo pic!

I kept saying to myself that I was NOT going to start my Christmas cards this early, but when I saw this too-stinkin-cute freebie from Bugaboo offered for playing along in the CDAC challenge, the bug bit, and I was whipping out my Christmas paper stash from last year quicker than you can say Misletoe.

OMG, is she not ever adorable?!  I had so much fun coloring her with my Copics - and I picture her puffing up her skirt to say hello.  So what do I do?  Cut out the skirt 3 times, and mini glue dot the skirt to add dimension!!  Add some Diamond stickles, and voila, Merry Christmas!

I'm New Here

Well, not to blogland or crafting -  but its' the name of the new set in Paulette's store at TLC ;)

I'm New Here is a word art set containing the most adorable sentiments you'll find, and this one that I used for my card today is no exception!

I've taken the beaten path with this one - the sentiment is really geared toward a baby image, but when I first read it, my slightly warped sense of humor showed itself.

This gorgeous vintage image was offered as a freebie at TLC and when I first got it, I remember thinking of the song, "The Lady is a Tramp", by Frank Sinatra (one of my all-time faves!!).  If you haven't stopped by TLC in awhile, then you are seriously missing out on tons of amazing free images and sentiments.

Then, after getting and reading this word art, I thought of this very image.  And then kachow.....Magic....and that's the story of how my love connection for image and word art came to be.  I colored her in Copics.  The edges of the image and sentiment were distressed and then inked in Making Memories distress ink.  The swirly paper is actually digi paper from TLC, too, called Grandma's Attic:  a gorgeous set of papers with these fabulous swirls in all different shades -  you really have to check them all out!

Thanks for stopping by today and hoping you'll come back to visit me soon :)

A Penny!

Welcome to the weekend everyone!!

Remember that old saying, A Penny For Your Thoughts?!  I do and have always loved it, although it's barely said anymore with my generation.  Everything is LOL, TFS and BFF, so I am pretty excited that A Penny For Your Thoughts is in a new set called, Simply Put, in Paulette's store at TLC!

I just got this new image from Some Odd Girl (yay!!!) called Tiny Tia Bow and I think she is just perfect with the sentiment.
Isn't she just positively precious?!  And I think she looks absolutely fabulous in Salmon!!  Everything is colored in Copics and distressed in Making Memories Distress Ink.  The polka dots on her dress were dabbled in Glossy Accents (although not sure if you can tell!).  I added a brown crocheted trim that I've had since I first started card making (it's been sitting in my trim-scraps flower pot forever!!) and I can't remember who it's by (sorry!!).   The amazing crocheted flower is through blog candy I won from Dorcas....I wish I could take the credit for it, but her hands are what worked the magic.

The current challenge over at SOG is Lift Another Odd Girl, and for my card I chose the fabby creation by SOG DT Robin McKinley to lift, which you can view by clicking here!  Thank you Robin for the inspiration!!

Today is absolutely GORJUSS here in Jersey and I hope that wherever you are you are having a bit of sunshine, too!

1-2-3 It's a Recipe!!

Happy Friday friends!!  It's time to cook up a 1-2-3 Recipe Challenge over at Guylou's Inimitability hosted by my dear friend and over-the-top talented teamie, Kim!  And what a scrummy-licious creation and challenge did she whip up for you today!!  To check out Kim's amazing project and grab some inspiration, you can hop on over to her blog by clicking here

So here are the ingredients for Kim's awesome challenge:
1 ribbon or lace
2 decorative papers
3 or more pieces of bling...rhinestones, metal charm, etc

For my card I decided to use Leah at the Cocktail Party.  She's had a hard day gardening, but now it's time to mingle with her friends with a Cosmo (or two) and chillax at the summer party on the beach.  Well, at least in my mind that's what she's all dolled up for ;)  I took a plain piece of Close to My Heart chipboard and colored it in the Copics I used for her dress to accent the awesome sentiment by TLC and, of course, I couldn't just stop at 3 pieces of bling ;)

If you come and play along with your yummy creation, you have the chance to win a $5 gift certificate from Guylou's Inimitability Store and be invited to be a Guest Designer on an upcoming challengeYou will have until July 28th, 10:00 pm (EST or click here to find out the corresponding time where you are) to enter!  What will you cook up today?!

This Too Shall Pass

This Too Shall Pass!  My grandfather used to say it alllll the time whenever I was going through something rather difficult in my life.  Even though he's been gone for almost 5 years now, I can still hear him saying it to me when things get a little rough and I feel like there is no end in sight with whatever is going on at the mo.

Then I get this wonderful new sentiment, This Too Shall Pass, from Paulette at TLC, that is included in a new set called Simply Put, which you can find in her store by clicking here.  It really tugged on my heartstrings; and with a wistful tear in my eye, I printed out the image I knew would be perfect with it!

I snagged this freebie image from Bugaboo Stamps awhile ago and love his pouty little face not believing that the storm will ever end.  He reminds me so much of Paddington Bear that I decided to use Paddington's color scheme as the inspiration for the card along with the current sketch over at Sketch Saturday.  I'm keeping this one in my stash for when someone I care about doesn't think their storm will end - just to lovingly remind them that "This Too Shall Pass"!

Frame it ALL!

Happy Tuesday all my craft-happy buddies!!!  Hopefully you've all had a good start to yet another week!!  I super excited because my girls have started swimming lessons this week and are lovin' it!!!  I love when they come in from their lessons -their little drenched pool-heads and bodies wrapped in towels.....sportin' their cute little tans - they make me look like a Saltine cracker!!!

I am also super excited about TLC's new set, Frame It All!  There are 4 different fabulous frames in the set - each one so GORJUSS and versatile!!

For my card today, I chose to use the Frame It All Floral frame and merged it with one of my favorite sentiments from TLC.  I can honestly say when I got the frame from Paulette, I jumped up and ran for my Copics!!

I have to confess -I was a bad girl and didn't write down all the colors I used - I got so wrapped up in shading that I lost track, lol.  I enlarged the frame and added the sentiment to make it the focal point of the card, but I know I'm going to use these over and over again with other images and sentiments, too!!   I think the whole set of frames, merged with various word art, on a set of cards wrapped in a matching ribbon would make a cute little present, don't you?  If you love the frame as much as I do and would love to see the rest of the set, click here!  I'm telling you - they are fabulous and you won't be disappointed!!

Vintage Village

I'm really diggin' vintage lately...well let me rephrase that, lol...I've always LOVED vintage and dabbled in it but never really did a lot of it.  Well TLC's new Vintage Village Backgrounds set is changing that for me -YAY!  I absolutely adore this new image of a Vintage Cathedral Window that Paulette has created!  You can find this image and the rest of the set here.  Originally, I had envisioned doing some stained glass in all different gem colors, but found this picture online which really spoke to me and used it as my inspiration:

 And here is my card:

Such a stunning image, right?!!!  The amazing word art reads, "Truth -Tests Remind Us Trust Him" (which is a gentle reminder for me!), and is from TLC as well!  The image was colored in Copics (E50, E00, E31 and E57) and then distressed along with the sentiment in Making Memories Distress Ink.

As always, I love your visits and thank you for each and every comment that you take the time to leave me :)

Hope the rest of your weekend is a good one!!!

My Kind of Exercise :)

Woot, woot!!  We all made it to Friday!!  Hopefully you all had a good week and are gearing up for some weekend fun whether it be with friends or family, or just hanging around enjoying some down time.

Talking about fun, I just love this new sentiment from TLC.  It reads "Exercise - Walking up and down a mall, occasionally resting to make a purchase."  You can find this fabulous sentiment in Paulette's new set called, Define This, by clicking here.  I just have to chuckle every time I read it because it reminds me of something I would say!!

Isn't the word art just fabulous?? As soon as I read it, this image came to mind - I've had this Bratz image that I got from a friend for awhile and have never used her so it was so much fun and so perfect to bring her to life now.

Thanks for stopping by today and hope you have an awesome weekend - maybe even get a little "exercise" in ;)

Warm Thoughts

Morning friends!!  Hoping by now you've all recovered from the holiday weekend!!

I had to whip up a card for my our cousin's girlfriend who had a freak accident last week - she got hurt pretty badly and I wanted to send her a little cheer-up card.  She's a fun-lovin' gal - free and easy spirit, so I thought the Stamp of the Month image from Designed2Delight paired with this adorable sentiment from TLC would do the trick :)

Isn't that image amazing??  I just love it with that sentiment!!  I didn't have any Flower Soft or sand, but decided to emboss and distress lightly some Kraft paper for the illusion of sand in front of the embossed "wave" panel.  Both the image and sentiment were pop-dotted for dimension.

Vintage Get Well

It was time for a smile for my Aunt and her husband.  They both have really been going through the thick of it lately - her husband being diagnosed with months to live caused by some rare auto-immune disease, my aunt -suffering an appendix that ruptured and survived; then just recently "wasn't feeling good" and was rushed in to have 2 stints surgically placed for the 95% blockage to her heart.  .

The word art I chose to base my card on is from a new set that TLC has in the store called Sell It.  You can find the set by clicking here.  Almost immediately, the wheels started turning when I read the sentiment. The sentiment reads:  "You take a licking, and keep on ticking"!  It can't get any more perfect than that !!!

I just got some new  DCWV paper for my birthday from my Mom, god love her. It's my favorite paper at the mo - so vintage in all different shades and textured!!  You may not be able to see it in the pic, but there are faint black drawn roses in the paper.  Divine!!  I scoured  the net and found this gorgeous vintage clock at Beyond the Fringe, which you can find here!  The clock is pop-dotted on the distressed doily for some added dimension and colored in Copics.  The heart chipboard piece is colored in the same Copics to match the clock, then crumpled and distressed in Making Memories distress ink.  My daughter said it looked like a piece of suede which made my day, and hopefully, this card makes theirs.

Stars and Stripes Challenge at Guylou's!

It's challenge time all my crafty friends!!!  I am so excited today to be hosting the challenge over at Guylou's Inimitability!

As we're heading into 4th of July weekend here in the States, most of my American friends are gearing up for their bbq's, fireworks and parties; and my Canadian friends are celebrating their independence today with festivities too!!  So it got me all wistful and patriotic -and I decided to go with Stars and Stripes as my challenge theme.  But have no fear, if you're not all into the patriotic theme, no worries - as long as your creation has some stars and stripes on it - you're good to go!!

For my card today, I decided to use the image, Praying Soldier, which I love and fits the theme perfectly! I cranked Peter, Paul and Mary belting out 'Blowin' in the Wind' and thought about all the heroes in our lives...the ones overseas that give up their entire world so that I can live peacefully with those I love in mine. I thought of the heroes on our soil and in our personal lives (angels unaware if you will)....

I went distress-happy with my Making Memories Distress ink to give the "dirt" appearance and feel; and colored up the pearls in the bottom right corner with the same Copics I used on his uniform.  And who said you can't have pearls on a masculine card?! LOL.  The sentiment by TLC reads "Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway" - John Wayne.

Hopefully this has inspired you all to come play along with us! You have until July 14th at 10:00 pm EST to show us your Stars and Stripes!!  The lucky winner will be invited to be a Guest Designer on an upcoming GI challenge as well as win a $5 gift certificate from Guylou's Inimitability Store!!!

Hope each one of you has a safe and awesome 4th of July weekend and Happy Canada Day!
