A Piece of SOG

The new challenge over at Some Odd Girl is to paper piece it up!!  I love doing this technique, but coloring with my Copics always wins.  So I thought this would be a fun one to play along with and challenge me to do something I don't normally do.

I've had this image from SOG for a little bit and haven't had a chance to play with her - her name is Garden Mae and she is one of my absolute faves.   I paper pieced her handkerchief and her top with some of the paper that is placed behind her feet.

Just lovin' this girl!!  And what garden doesn't have a white picket fence?  Well Mae's does!  Everything right down to the background papers have been distressed in Making Memories distress ink.  The flower by her feet are three (3) scalloped circles, crumpled and distressed, and put together with a pearl.  The beautiful sentiment is from TLC, and is part of the set, What Friends Are For, which you can find in the store by clicking here.

I would love to thank each and every one of you that has been praying and sending out good vibes throughout Hurricane Irene!  We weathered the nasty storm with some minor basement flooding and broken tree limbs, but we did not lose power or water!!!!  I am so grateful to God for keeping us safe and for each one of you -your prayers were definitely appreciated!!

Hoping that you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

Bloom

Morning friends!  We're gearing up for a massive hurricane here in Jersey that has been heading up the coast.  The rain is starting and the clouds are rolling in.  We're told that we'll have nasty weather until Saturday/Sunday when the worst of the hurricane will hit our area.  We've already gotten the phone call from our township urging us to prep for the worst, and I am praying that it won't be as bad as they are expecting.

So in order to chase the clouds away and bring some sunshine home, I made this card for the Progressive Challenge over at Designed2Delight using this adorable stamp from Faith!

I based the card on the color scheme over at CR84FN Color Challenge which I absolutely adore:

As well as the new Wednesday Sketch Challenge (rotated) at The Outlawz which is:

Hoping wherever you are, this brought some sunshine to your home, too :)

New Color Challenge at The Outlawz!

Happy Tuesday friends!!  Hoping you all enjoyed your weekend and started your week off on a good foot!  And since it's Tuesday, it's time for another Color Challenge over at The Outlawz!

So for this next week's challenge, Brenda chose this yummy color combo:

So super pretty, don'tcha think?!  I just love these colors together.  Now remember, there's a twist with your creations, you must add a water element as well!

Isn't she precious?  I got the image for joining the Progressive Challenge on the CDAC.  To find out how you can join in the fun, click here.  I had to make some minor changes to my embellies :).  The lace ribbon was stark white, and I wanted to soften it a bit so what I did was steep a hot cup of tea and let the lace soak for a few hours in the tea (which is a new technique I've been dying to try but a little intimidated by).  The pearls on the butterfly were white and I colored them with my B95 Copic to match the blues on the card.

We have some fabby prizes this month sponsored by Di's Digi Downloads:

Sketch Challenge at Guylou's

Morning friends!!  We have an awesome challenge to get your Mojo flowing over at Guylou's Inimitability!!!  Our very own talented Carmen is hosting it this fortnight and has provided a rockin' sketch for us to play with!

For today's challenge, I decided to use one of Guylou's new images called Leah and Bra as well as the bonus sentiment that is part of the set!  How awesome is that?!  I really love Leah - I just imagine her fresh and fun, not pretentious...a friend you'd like to have (one that even helps you bra shop!!!)  So based on my interpretation of her personality, I went with some fun and fresh papers kept it crisp, bright and simple just like the Leah I imagined!

So come on over to Guylou's and show us what you got!  You have until September 1st to play along for the chance to win a $5 gift certificate to Guylou's store as well as snag a Guest Designer spot on one of our upcoming challenges!

Have a fabulous weekend!

D2D Progressive Challenge

Evening friends!  Making this post super late and going to post quickly!  We had a very long day here with three super-bored children due to intermittent rainstorms.  While the kids were shopping with Daddy, I whipped up this quickie card using this adorable image from Designed2Delight, which was emailed in a set to all of those that participated in the Progressive Challenge.

Isn't the image precious?!  I love the little mouse peeking out from behind the pumpkin!!  I didn't feel like adding too much to it - just kept it clean and simple so that the image would be center stage and the Kraft would show.  The ribbon was in my stash from last year that was part of a fall package of ribbons from Target.  I doodled some simple stitches around the image to match the stitches on the pumpkin.

Now that the day is done and the kids are going to sleep, I think Momma's gonna lay her head down too!

Fungus can be cute!

I cannot believe that the summer is almost over and it's almost time for another school year!!!  I see the school buses out, and all the back to school sale flyers are filling my mailbox.  We've got our backpacks, lunch boxes and school supplies in order.  My oldest is entering 7th grade (when did that happen?!) and my babies are going into Kindergarten (woot, woot!).

My card today is for my oldest sweetie.  She's not a humungo fan of Science and when I got this sentiment from Paulette at TLC, immediately I thought of her, and had to make her a card for her first day of school to wish her well and give her a little chuckle at the same time.

The sentiment from TLC is included in a new set called Ready To Learn, which you can find by clicking here.  I took this adorable little girl from Bugaboo Stamps and merged her with this awesome mushroom freebie from Stamp Fairy to create the scene.  The bumps on the smaller mushroom were hand doodled with my Copic Multi-Liner.

My daughter caught me coloring her up (which was sooo much fun!) and absolutely loved the two images together, not realizing that I would be making a card for her with it.  I can't wait to see her face when I give it to her!!

Color Challenge at The Outlawz!

We made it to another Tuesday which means another fabby Color Challenge is underway at The Outlawz!!

This week the girls are asking you to create a card or project with the following color scheme:

Yummy colors right?  I just love 'em!!  Now, in addition to these colors you need to add some shells or gems to your project!  The photo inspired me to go with something beachy/summery and here is what I came up with:

I wanted the card to be earthy and clean and decided against using any patterned papers.  I did manage to use both a seashell that was in my daughter's stash (yes, I did steal it but with her permission, lol!!) and some gems.  There is some slight distressing around the embossed panel.

Our awesome Sponsors this month are Di's Digi Downloads

 And Paper Temptress

Wow!!!  Prizes totally worth playing for - so why not join the fun and play along!!

That's What Friends Are For

Happy Friday friends.  I apologize for not getting this post to you yesterday.  I must have spoken too soon when I said the little ones were cooperating ;)

Every time I hear that line "Thats What Friends Are For" I think of the song by Dionne Warwick and friends!!!!   Come on, you know it - 'in good times, and bad times, I'll be on your side forever more.... that's what friends are for....'  I love that song actually!!

And I really love this image from Bugaboo Stamps along with one of the sentiments from the fabulous What Friends Are For set from TLC.

I colored the gals with my trusty Copics and the heart was actually a plain self-adhesive chipboard die cut that I colored with my Copics as well.  After that, I smothered the heart in Xmas Red Stickles and pop-dotted it for dimension.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!

D2D Progressive Challenge

Happy Thursday Friends!!!  We have been getting the most gorgeous weather here in Jersey for the past two days -not too hot, not humid..there's a slight breeze and the sun is glorious!  My only hope is that it will stay like this through the weekend!!!  Hopefully wherever you are reading this, you are enjoying some sunshine, too!

Here is my card that I made for the Designed2Delight Progressive Challenge using the Stamp of the Month

Isn't she just the most precious little thing you ever saw?  And what better than to pair it with another fabulous sentiment from TLC!

I brought out my white Souffle pen by Sakura from the depths of my draw to doodle on the star.  I remember when I first started making cards, I just had to have me some Souffle pens that I bought 'em in all different colors!!  I really thought I'd use them all the time. I don't ever use them!!  LOL, funny how that happens, isn't it!?  I also pierced around the image and added some Stickles to the flower on her head and some on the cupcake for some sparkle.

Since the weather has been cooperating, so have the kiddies ;)  which means Mommy's been a little busy in her craft room!!  Woot, woot!  I'll be sharing another card today, so don't forget to stop on by later!

My Sister

Well I always wanted a sister, but I got brothers, lol.  My three daughters are lucky -they all have each other and I always tell them this..you may irritate each other but you'll always be sisters..be friends.  From what I've heard, sisters have a unique and special bond.

Like I said, I don't have any sisters, but I do have my best friend.  We've been friends for over 25 years. We've definitely been through thick and thin together.  But we always joke we're more like sisters than anything.

As soon as I got this new vintage image from TLC, I immediately thought of my best friend and decided to make her card with it and her favorite papers from SEI.

The image is so unique and vintage I just adore it!!!  I also used the vintage corners that are part of the TLC set called A Little Edgy.  You can find this image as well as the fab corner set in the TLC store by clicking here.  I colored the banner and the corners with my Copics (R32, R83) and distressed them both in some black Making Memories Distress ink.

Now I just need a reason to send it to her ;)

New Color Challenge at The Outlawz!!

Wow, I can't believe Tuesday is here already!!  Where did the week go?!  They seem to be going faster and faster that's for sure!!!

It's time for another Color Challenge over at The Outlawz and for this week, the color combo is Cherry Red, Green and White (yum-o!) but there is a twist!!!  The twist for this week's challenge is to use this color combo for your project and include a transparent embellishment :

For my card today I used a darling image from Di's Digi Downloads which is our month-long Sponsor!

Isn't that image precious?!  The sentiment is from TLC and I thought it was perfect for her (and so true)!  For my transparent embellishments I used a "clear" band-aid (which is placed behind the image) as well as a Band-Aid wrapper!!

Hoping to see you and your creations at The Outlawz this week!  I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Happy Birthday

Happy Monday, too!  Hoping that each one of you had a wonderful weekend!!

I found out yesterday that our new neighbor's birthday was....you got it, yesterday!!!  Don't you just love when that happens?!  Thankfully the little ones played Life's Twists and Turns all together, all nicey-nice (yay!) and I was able to whip this card up in a quick.  Phew!

I had so much fun coloring this sweet image from Elisabeth Bell and paired her with a freebie sentiment from TLC!  Paulette gives away tons of amazing freebies daily and always has something fun in store over at the blog,  so don't forget to stop by today!!  The flower was a white baby Prima which I colored in R83 and R32 to match her pretty dress.  There are glints of Cotton Candy Stickles in the centers of the flowers on her dress but it was hard to captivate with my lack of photography skills ;)  A little bit of pink... a little bit of lace.....some pearls and........ Happy Birthday!

Anything But a Card Color Challenge

Guylou's Inimitability is back from a short summer break with a new challenge hosted by none other than Guylou herself!

For this challenge, there are two requirements:
1.  Your project MUST be anything BUT a card;
2.  Your project MUST use the following fun color combo:

At the end of every school year, my daughter comes home with a nice little list of authors and book choices for the summer.  Now mind you, my daughter loooooves to read, however, most of the summer reading selections never seem to catch her interest.  I don't really blame her - the choices most of the time leave a lot to be desired.

I decided for today's challenge to make her a little bookmark using Caroline to try and get her excited about the selection she made and hopefully give her something pretty to look at in those moments when she gets distracted from the plot!

I used the dot technique and my Swiss Dot embossing folder to add some oomph since I went dp-less.   I created a heart border using my Expression and doodled the framing on the hearts with my multi-liner so you could actually see them behind Caroline, who is colored in Copics.  And what 7th grade girl doesn't love bling?  Well that's where the Bo Bunny jewel candy comes in at the bottom of the bookmark!  ;)

Needless to say, Caroline's expression and these fabby fun colors really made my daughter squeal with delight and I'm happy to report, she actually LOVED her book this summer (yay!!) and her new bookmark!!

We'd love to see your project (remember it can't be a card this time around) in these awesome colors.  You have until August 18th to enter for a chance to win a Guest Design spot and a $5 gift certificate from Guylou's Inimitability Store .  Can't wait to see what you come up with!!

I was MOOOOOved :)

Happy Hump Day!!  LOL, I think I secretly love posting on Wednesday's just so I can say that!  Hoping that you are all having a good week so far!

You know, it's really not often that someone does some random act of kindness that really brightens your whole world up like a Christmas tree.  It doesn't have to be anything special - just a phone call or a "hey, how are ya" is all it takes - I'm really a simple kinda gal ;)

I never seem to have enough "Thank You" cards on hand to thank those people who so generously give of themselves, so I figured it was time to build up my stash.   I have been wanting to use this sentiment from TLC since the day I got it but I just never had the right stamp.  I was stoked, to say the very least, to get this new stamp from Bugaboo that I absolutely adore and fit the sentiment perfectly!!

So here is Molly Moo tending to her sunflower (my favorite!!!) - she is so super adorable isn't she?!  Who knew Bugaboo had farm animals?!!?!!  I just love her big, soft nose and that adorable blouse she's got on!!  I kept it simple today - no flowers, no bling (oh the horrors!!! lol) because I just love her so much and want all eyes on her.

Without preaching, I just want to say that these women that draw these images for us to enjoy are women. They are mothers. They are friends. Your sister perhaps.....they are wives. Co-workers. Daughters. Dealing with real life like we all do.  They are real women. So when an artist offers us a beautiful gift in the form of freebie, please leave a thank you.  It's the least we can do.   :)))))

I can't thank YOU enough for stopping by today and taking the time you take away from your very busy life to leave an encouraging word or a smile.  They mean the world to me!

Guest Designer for The Outlawz!!

Yay!  Tuesday is here!!  I know, I usually don't get all excited about Tuesdays but for the month of August they just might be my new favorite day!  I am so psyched that I was asked to Guest Design over at The Outlawz with the girls over at the Tuesday Color Challenge!!!  The DT over there have been my inspiration for quite some time, and I am wicked thrilled to be an Outlawz girl for the next few weeks along side of them! If you have a few extra minutes to spare, try to head on over to their blogs and see what the girls cooked up for you this week - you won't be disappointed!!

Brenda
Guylou
Roxann

This week's color combo for the challenge was picked by Rox, and she picked such a fun, summery one at that!  There is a little twist which is to add a frame or a slide mount!  Easy peasy, right?!

Had me all ready for some backyard fun with friends and family ;)  And speaking of the backyard, someday I would love to have some gorgeous sunflowers in mine - which is where I gleaned my inspiration from:

I paired this beautiful Whimsy & Stars image with one of my most favorite sentiments by TLC.  I have used both versions of it so many times in so many different ways, that I've lost track.  The papers are hybrid - the ginghams are digital paper by BirdsCards and the white eyelet paper is from Making Memories (another all-time favorites!!!).  There is just a touch of Diamond Stickles on that cutie bee's wings, however, I'm not sure if you can see it!!!

The Sponsor for the month of August is Di's Digi Downloads which is totally worth playing for!!

Hoping to see you and all your lemony-lime creations over at The Outlawz!!!!
