Anything But a Card Color Challenge

Guylou's Inimitability is back from a short summer break with a new challenge hosted by none other than Guylou herself!

For this challenge, there are two requirements:
1.  Your project MUST be anything BUT a card;
2.  Your project MUST use the following fun color combo:

At the end of every school year, my daughter comes home with a nice little list of authors and book choices for the summer.  Now mind you, my daughter loooooves to read, however, most of the summer reading selections never seem to catch her interest.  I don't really blame her - the choices most of the time leave a lot to be desired.

I decided for today's challenge to make her a little bookmark using Caroline to try and get her excited about the selection she made and hopefully give her something pretty to look at in those moments when she gets distracted from the plot!

I used the dot technique and my Swiss Dot embossing folder to add some oomph since I went dp-less.   I created a heart border using my Expression and doodled the framing on the hearts with my multi-liner so you could actually see them behind Caroline, who is colored in Copics.  And what 7th grade girl doesn't love bling?  Well that's where the Bo Bunny jewel candy comes in at the bottom of the bookmark!  ;)

Needless to say, Caroline's expression and these fabby fun colors really made my daughter squeal with delight and I'm happy to report, she actually LOVED her book this summer (yay!!) and her new bookmark!!

We'd love to see your project (remember it can't be a card this time around) in these awesome colors.  You have until August 18th to enter for a chance to win a Guest Design spot and a $5 gift certificate from Guylou's Inimitability Store .  Can't wait to see what you come up with!!

Cute Card Thursday - No DP
Crafty Purple Card Challenge - Anything but a card

  1. I feel her pain! I love reading but almost never wanted to read whatever I was forced to. A lot if those books were better when I reread them on my own time... Your bookmark is super cute! The coloring looks great!

  2. Sara, just fabulous! Your dot technique is wonderful, and I just loooove that cute little heart border! I love this bookmark, and I'm glad it helped dd get more involved with her reading! I know what you mean about being forced. I read a book a day (sometimes every two days now that I'm so busy crafting) yet I got a C in high school english because I didn't want to read those books. Then...I got older and ended up reading them for fun anyway. LOL

  6. Hey, Sara! I am sure she loved it. I love how you gave it so much detail. I have such a hard time with adding detail to relatively flat projects like that, but you carried it off so well. I think I'm a little jealous....
