How Do You?

Make a card for someone that you care about that you know is dying?  Well, that was my task at hand.

A friend of the family has been sent home today with Hospice care - she has been battling stomach cancer for a couple of years now, and it appears that her fight is coming to end.

She has been so wonderful to my family....she was at our wedding, at each christening for our children, made meals after I delivered them and after surgeries.  Always kind; always smiling and happy.

In her last days, I wanted her to know that we were thinking of her and sending her some love.

I used the adorable stamp from Elisabeth Bell called Spring Pick, which you can find in the Whimsy Stamp's store, by clicking here.  I colored her with Copics, added Pink Liquid Pearls to the flower centers, and also added some Glossy Accents to the cherries in her basket.  The corners were rounded with my Creative Memories corner rounder and softened with some Studio G chalk ink.  You'll have to forgive me, as I made the card, and snapped a pic late tonite without the best lighting :(  The papers are a mix of DCWV The Linen Closet and Authentique's Delightful collection.  I added some roses from Recollections and the green flower I had in my stash was centered with a K&Company pearl brad.  The butterfly is also from Recollections as are the pearls in the corners.  I used a Fiskars punch to finish it off.

I hope she sincerely knows that she was cared about...and tho I can't be with her, that I am there with her in spirit.

  3. Sara, I am so sorry for your impending loss. I think this card just reinforces to me what a thoughtful, kind person you are. I love this image with that sentiment. I also love the soft colors of this card. I am sure she will treasure it during the time she has left.

  8. This has got to be the most difficult type of card to make. Your heart must have been so heavy as you created this beautiful card. You and she are in my prayers. -Gail
